Our Mission

At Hall Leys Skatepark Project, our mission is to take action to replace the existing skatepark in Hall Leys Park, Matlock, which has reached the end of its serviceable life. We envision a vibrant and inclusive space where skateboarders, BMX riders, scooter enthusiasts, and all individuals with a passion for action sports can gather, engage, and express themselves freely. Our goal is to raise funds and replace the existing 20-year-old ramps with new, updated versions that have reflected the current needs of the community in their design and construction.

Our Vision

We envision a facility where users can gather, engage, and express themselves freely. Our hope is to create and sustain an exceptional youth facility that goes beyond being just a set of ramps. We envision a dynamic and thriving space that serves as a hub for cooperative athleticism, creative self-expression, diverse community engagement, and the promotion of long-term habitual exercise habits. Through our collective efforts, we want to ensure this facility becomes a treasured asset available to both the local community and visitors alike.

Together, we will build a lasting legacy that fosters athleticism, strengthens social bonds, and nurtures healthy lifestyles, making a positive impact on the lives of current and future generations in the local area and beyond.

Our Values

Our values as a community action group are rooted in the principles of collaboration and community empowerment. We believe that by working hand in hand with current users and other local stakeholders in the community, we can achieve greater impact and create a skatepark that truly meets the diverse needs and aspirations of its users. We value open communication and actively seek input from community members, ensuring that their voices are not only heard but also reflected in every aspect of our project. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and participation, we aim to build a sense of ownership among community members, making them integral partners in the decision-making process. Through genuine engagement and active listening, we are committed to understanding the unique perspectives and priorities of the community, allowing us to tailor our efforts and ensure the new skatepark becomes a shared space that not only replaces the facility as it stands but also improves on it meeting everyones needs going froward.
